Trind: Results after two weeks

Today marks the day that I've used the products in the Trind Perfect System Set for the fourteenth time - so that means I'm done with the two week daily regime.  I have to admit I cheated a little; for the first ten days, I used the cuticle balsam, nail balsam and nail repair polish every day, and then left just that polish on until the next day, like you're supposed to. By then I'd gotten tired of having just clear polish on everyday, and so for the last four days, I'd still use the three products... but then I'd put regular nail polish on top of the nail repair as if that was just the base coat. I don't think it mattered much, really.

So what do I think of the results? Well, let's start with the bad news: amazingly, my cuticles are more dried out than when I started this treatment. I don't think the Trind stuff is to blame for that, though. See, the thing is, you're supposed to remove the old coat of nail repair polish every day before applying the new stuff, with an acetone free polish remover. Now, the polish remover that I had was actually a bottle of very cheap, very high acetone content remover (that did work like a charm to actually remove polish, I'll have to admit). So even though it was still half full, I bought a new bottle of "extra care" remover, specifically "extra mild for brittle nails", that the store clerk assured "was completely acetone free". And what did I discover when checking the small print on the back of the bottle later on? Acetone. As the first (thus highest volume percentage) ingredient.

What this means is that I've been using a non-acetone-free remover on my nails every single day, whereas I would normally only take off my polish every two to three days. And while the extra care ingredients may have helped my nails, just as the package promised, the acetone wrecked havoc on my cuticles. At least it didn't stop my nails from growing nice and strong... because that, they definitely did.

Previously, the edges of my nails would be so soft I could easily bend them over, making them very prone to splitting and breaking. Now, however, they're very hard, but not in the sense that they actually become brittle. Just very strong and healthy nails. The colour has improved as well, from a washed out slightly yellow tone all over to a soft pink nail with an actual white edge. As I showed in the before picture in my original post, I also had several nails where the top layer was actually peeling back, making the nail very ragged and ridged. I figured this was something that would simply need to be grown out, and the only thing the Trind products would do, would be keeping the nails strong enough to prevent them from splitting and peeling any more while they grew out. Well... amazingly enough, it's actually repaired the ridges to some extent! They're still there, but only if you look for them, instead of being very noticeable like before. And they haven't peeled back any further since I started using the products, so pretty soon they'll be gone completely.

Let's move on to the before and after photos, shall we?

Here's the old ghastly "before" photo...

Two weeks ago after the first manicure...

And after two weeks!

That's looking pretty good, right? Just look at how far my nails have grown out, while looking stronger than before. Normally they would've starting splitting and breaking off long before they'd reach this point! In fact, I don't know if I remember the nail on my index finger ever being this long before.

And now, as a completely unrelated bonus, have some pictures of what I had for lunch. Because it was quite yummy.

Two slices of multigrain bread, topped with light cream cheese with cucumber (Philadelphia), fresh parley and ground black pepper, along with a bowl of lowfat yoghurt with fresh raspberries and a splash of sugarfree strawberry syrup.
